Red Car Analytics provided energy modeling and HVAC system expertise to the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance on evaluating Dedicated Outside Air Systems (DOAS). The analysis sought to understand the cost benefit analysis of converting an existing commercial building’s HVAC system to three configurations of a Dedicated Outside Air System (DOAS) with each one increasing in energy efficiency.

The project included advanced energy modeling development in OpenStudio (EnergyPlus), batch simulation of the energy models and data analytics of the results. Detailed HVAC system configurations were provided to the team to inform several of the parameters of the study to make a sound comparison of options.  This economic analysis and simulation went towards supporting the NEEA team in their ongoing development of very high efficiency DOAS systems.
